We are having a baby....

...BOY!!!

The baby and I are both doing great. Everything looked normal and he is growing right on schedule. Bob and I are thrilled. The smile on Bob's face when the technician said it was a boy was priceless. He is just beaming whenever we talk about it. I can't wait to start picking out all the nursery things now... there's so much to do and think about!

And to think.... I am almost 1/2 way through the pregnancy. It's crazy. Time has been flying but I have a feeling that its going to slow down right about nowwwww. Ahh well, that leaves us about 20 more weeks to figure out what we are going to name him, and I think it might take us that long!

Here are the pics from the ultrasound today at 18 weeks, 3 days.

Tuesday is a big day!

So this Tuesday, February 19th, 2008 we find out if our little one is a he or a she! So far, everyone that has guessed has said boy... and I don't know if my motherly intuition is that developed yet, but my gut says boy as well. We will find out in a couple more days!

18 weeks.. 4 1/2 months

Ok, so now we are up to date. At this point, with the First Trimester far behind us, I think its safe to say that I have had a pretty nice, easy pregnancy. Aside from some waves of nausea here and there, I am thankful I didnt have to deal with the infamous morning sickness. I was pretty tired for the first 3 months (which, if you know a Fasciana, you know we like to sleep!) but I have gotten back into my normal routines and even have a few bouts of hyper-activity here and there... like last weekend where I scrubbed every floor in the house on my hands and knees. Glad that Bob is keeping up with me.

16 weeks

Around this time (now the end of January, '08), we got the results back for our NT scans, and the baby falls under the extremely low risk category. All is going well and at this point I start to feel more normal.... Bob can't make fun of me for going to bed at 7:30 anymore because my new found energy keeps me up until 9:00!

14 weeks and baby's first pictures

At this point I am 3 1/2 months along and already having problems fitting into my normal pants. Geez... were they really that tight before?

Somewhere around this point, we also had the NT scan of the baby. For those of you not up on the latest pregnancy lingo, it means the genetic testing in which they do an ultrasound to measure some little part of the baby's head and also prick my finger and take about 100 vials of blood. No, not that many, but it was alot!
The ultraasound was so cool. It was crazy to see he/she squirming around in there and not being able to feel a thing! We saw it had 2 arms and 2 legs, and even got a shot of one of the little hand with 5 fingers. It looked like he was sucking his thumb at one point.
Here's our first pictures of Baby Jones!

10 weeks

So at 10 weeks (around the end of Decemeber 07), Bob and I had our first appointment.
(I am writing these first 4 months from memory -which, if you know me is sometimes scary to begin with- so I hope not to leave anything out.)
Bob LOVED going to the OB-GYN for the first time. Haha. They were so behind we had to wait about an hour before we saw my nurse practitioner. It was worth the wait when we got the hear the little one's heartbeat for the first time!

5 weeks along

For those of you that don't see me regularly, here's a little progression of how I (and the baby) have been growing.
This is just after we found out I was pregnant, on November 26th, 2007.

Succumbing to the blogging pressure...

Well, here we are! We created a site for the whole world to see and share in the lovely thing that is our first pregnancy. Our little one is due to arrive on or around July 20th, 2008! So, depending on the whether he/she is early or late, they may be either a Cancer or a Leo. Let's see what we are in for...

Cancer (if born on or before July 22):
The Cancer person is: fearless, resourceful, very defensive, family- and home-oriented, honest, generous, humorous, loving, sensitive, protective, helpful, hard-working, imaginative, and extremely protective of loved ones.
The Cancerian is prone to being moody, hyper-sensitive, touchy, tenacious, devious, dominating, secretive, blunt, jealous, quick-tempered, controlling, manipulative, aloof, dogmatic, eccentric, boastful, reckless, over-dramatic and somewhat arrogant.

Leo (if born July 23rd or later):
Astrologers broadly agree that the following are the characteristics of leo: The Leo person is creative, proud, risk-taking, fun-loving, dramatic, dignified, theatrical, passionate, affectionate, ardent, loyal, ambitious, loves attention, very strong, independent, noble, leader, enthusiastic, protective, adoring, playful, inventive, generous, faithful, and loving.
The Leo is prone to bossiness, a snobbish attitude, being egotistical, boastful, pompous, dogmatic, pushy, nosy, over self-conscious, over-aggressive, possessive, materialistic, over-dramatic, argumentative, interfering, jealous, self-serving, intolerant, and arrogant.

Well, ok then. Sound like we're going to have our hands full!
In all seriousness, we really can't wait and feel so thankful to be given the opportunity to become parents. Hope that you enjoy reading and watching our journey!
Mom, you'd better be happy :)
