So just a little update from my side of the world...its been a while! Work has been keeping me very busy. We have a faculty/student talent show that I am helping to run this week, and lots of stuff going on in the math world. We are also getting ready to interview for my sub that will take over for me while on maternity leave (I'm taking off till the end of October), and planning for next year is too much to think about now! We have some baby showers coming up in the next couple of weeks as well, as well as Bob's big 4-0. After next month it will get better!!
I had to see a cardiologist last week because I've been having racing heart and lightheaded-ness... so I had an u/s of my heart, and EKG and had to wear a monitor-thingy for 24 hours (which was SUPER annoying). I went for my follow up, and everything was normal. So doctor just said to take it easy and chalk it up to growing a person!
I've started my 2-weeks appointment scheduling, meaning that I am now seeing my OB every 2 weeks instead of every 4. Then at 35 weeks I start going every week for a checkup to see if there is any progress. Went to my OB last Thursday, and heard our little guy's heartbeat, measured right on track at 30 weeks, my sugar and BP are great, he's head down, and I am up a total of 22 lbs. now

YIKES! I've never seen such a big number on the scale! But the doc reassured me I am progressing normally, and that if I go 8 more weeks and gain 8 more lbs, that 30 is perfectly normal weight gain. I only hope it stops there! She also told me an interesting fact... during an average pregnancy, a woman gains 8 POUNDS of BLOOD volume alone! Isn't that nuts?!
Aside from the normal pregnancy stuff, I've seemed to develop a weird lump in my left armpit. Its soft and it doesnt hurt, so she thinks its just extra mamaliary (sp) tissue. I guess its more common in women after they give birth, as the glands swell from milk production. So its thats what it is, I'm going to have a lumpy armpit for a while.

But... I have to go next week for an ultrasound of my boob and armpit just to make sure. Ahhh! I feel like between my cardio, my OB, and now this, that I am constantly at the doctor! Speaking of doctors, I've been looking into local pediatricians for our little guy. I got tons of recommendations for Kenmore Pediatrics, so I need to give them a call this week sometime.
On another note, Mom came with me to a breastfeeding class last week (Bob should thank his lucky stars that I didn't torture him by making him sit through 3 hours of boob talk) and two important things I learned was that "I WILL NOT starve my baby!" (LOL- the lactation nurse teaching the class must have said that 30 times, I should have started tallying it), and that when babies are born , their stomach is about the size of a ping-pong ball. She also showed us the ping pong ball about a hundred times to tell us that they dont need to eat alot at first. Bob and I also went to our first (of three) childbirth classes. There wasnt anything new that I learned, but it was a REALLY good thing for him to go to because he is clueless about all this pregnancy stuff. I am glad that he is learning all the parts and process of what happens during labor and birth. One important thing he learned, is that when I'm in labor, he is to do and say whatever I WANT! Sounds like something that needs to happen even when I'm NOT in labor.
